Our Modernities - Positioning Asian Art Now

Greetings to everyone who participated in the 'Our Modernities' conference organized by the Asia Research Institute and the NUS Department of History over the last week. Papers will be up on the web soon, and I will link. Particularly relevant to my work were Patrick Flores' piece on art and democracy and the reception of Juan Luna's painting of Parisian Lives in the Philippines. Also Ray Lagenbach's piece on socialist realism in Singapore propoganda.
